Shopian:
Ten shops were gutted in a mysterious fire in Shopian and Baramulla in Kashmir on Friday night. Eight shops were destroyed in Shopian while two shops were put on fire by unidentified masked men in Baramulla.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that flames started emanating from 8 shops at Teng road Shopian around 11 PM on Friday night. “The cause of fire is not known but the fire has completely destroyed the shops, “locals said.
“It is fifth such episode in the district,” sources said, “earlier four shops went up in flames mysteriously.” “Two more attempts were made on medical shops as well.”
An official said that goods worth crores were damaged in the fire.
In North Kashmir’s Baramulla two shops were set on fire at Janbaz Complex near Uri Bus Stand. Both the shops (Khan Motors) belonged to Muzaffar Ahmed Khan.
A police official said that a case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the culprits. (CNS)
